I have been teaching people how to use computers since the IBM PC first arrived on the scene about 25 years ago. For about 13 years, I provided PC and mainframe computer courses to over 2000 employees at a multi-state ‘Baby-Bell’ phone company. For the past seven years I have been teaching classes on computer software and internet use at a large suburban library including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), digital photography, eBay selling, web-based genealogy research, resume creation and online job searching.
The success of my in-person training programs has been built upon a reputation for providing well-organized and easy-to-understand computer instruction (including detailed user guides to ensure students are able to retain what they have learned), and for communicating technical subjects in everyday terms instead of ‘computer lingo’.
